Start of School Thoughts — A Thread

Essential Coaching

Here are a few thoughts on my first 3 weeks of school. For a little context, I teach 7th Grade Science at a small private school is North Louisiana but this beginning of the school year routine has become part of my arsenal the last 5+ years at multiple schools, public, private, teaching students everywhere from 7th grade to 12th grade. At the end of the day all students are just that, students…kids…a human being trying to make sense of and find their way in the world that is ever changing, fast paced, and largely either controlling their every move or ignoring them completly. We try to take a more “recruit-based” approach and focus almost exclusively on the #HumanComponent before even thinking about diving into content. Thank you for being here and taking the time to read, reflect, and hopefully grow. Enjoy.

Tell us how your start to the school year has gone in your classroom or with your teams. Have you had similar conversations with players and students? Seeing any results? Or are you interested in starting these conversations and aren’t sure how to being? Let’s connect and discuss it.
